GUARDEN Annual Plenary Meeting in Barcelona
From September 25th to 27th, 2024, the GUARDEN project held its annual plenary meeting in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together representatives from its 16-partner consortium to review progress, plan future work, and map out strategic actions for the coming months. The event, hosted by CSIC, served as a vital opportunity for collaboration and knowledge exchange among the consortium members. Over the course of the three days, the partners discussed various aspects of the project, focusing on the milestones achieved to date and refining the roadmap for the next phase of the project.
One of the highlights of the plenary was the consortium’s exploration of the Spanish case study, led by AMB (Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona). This case study focuses on the complex balance between biodiversity and urban coastal management, a critical issue for coastal cities worldwide. Consortium partners were able to visit study areas and participate in fieldwork activities related to this case, deepening their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in managing biodiversity alongside urban growth in coastal regions.
