The 5th European Conference of the Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) took place from 18 to 22 of November in Wagengingen, the Netherlands under the topic Ecosystem Services: One Planet, One Health. The conference highlighted the linkages among human health, animal and plant health, ecosystem health, and the global environmental health largely in line with the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our HUA partners represented the GUARDEN project with two presentations on the uptake of ecosystem services into decision-making and their use to achieve transformative change across sectors and scales.  Moreover, Plymouth Marine Laboratory presented their considerations about how the indicators of the Global Biodiversity Framework can be used locally and what they mean for different users. During the event, we connected with leading experts and practitioners, exchanged ideas, and delved into stimulating discussions on how to advance the balance between humans and nature through ecosystem services. With GUARDEN we ultimately aim to contribute further to this journey toward transformative change by providing actionable insights and collaborative approaches that bridge the gap between science and policy.
