Botanical Surveys: Enhancing Floristic Knowledge and Producing Training Images in Southern France

As part of the GUARDEN project, the National Mediterranean Botanical Conservatory conducted several botanical surveys in June 2025 within the Narbonnaise Regional Natural Park in the Mediterranean. These surveys were carried out in various habitats defined according to the EUNIS typology.

This campaign has two main objectives:
1. To enrich the park’s floristic knowledge by supplementing existing observation data;
2. To produce training images for the improvement of the Pl@ntNet application.

In addition, the team in charge of developing Pl@ntNet joined the National Mediterranean Botanical Conservatory for a day of fieldwork. This meeting provided an opportunity for constructive discussions about the Pl@ntNet tool’s interface and its uses in real-world conditions.
